Alternatives

Arcade alternatives for how-to videos

Arcade now headlines AI-generated product videos alongside its interactive demos, writes AI voiceovers on every plan including the free one, and exports MP4 on paid tiers. People look for an Arcade alternative when the written guide has to come from the video itself — Arcade lists step-by-step guides, but its own docs say they do not support video steps — or when export should not sit behind a credit budget whose terms change.

Before the list

First: should you actually leave Arcade?

Arcade is a demo tool now leading with AI-generated product videos. There are jobs it does better than anything below, and if you recognise yourself on the left, the cheapest alternative is the one you already have.

Stay with Arcade if…

  • You want the demo to be interactive — branching, CTAs and forms inside it — which is their product and not ours.
  • Their free tier is generous for a pilot: unlimited AI demos, AI voiceovers, AI text-to-video, 1 published demo and 1 published video, 200 AI credits a month.
  • You record software outside the browser: they list a desktop app as well as a Chrome extension, on every tier.
  • Seat pricing fits you better than per-minute: Growth is $50 per seat a month, or $42.50 per seat billed yearly, up to 10 seats, read on 2 October 2026.
  • You want custom landing pages, brand kits and a custom domain around the demo.

Look for an alternative if…

  • The written guide comes from the video itself. Arcade lists step-by-step guides on Growth and up, but its own docs say they do not support video steps, read on 2 October 2026.
  • The automatic edit is the point — zooms anchored to the control you clicked and dead time compressed by published thresholds you can read before you record.
  • You want MP4 export without a paid tier gating it, and without a credit budget on the plan.
  • You want to publish in another language from a recording in your own.

The list

8 Arcade alternatives for how-to videos

Coming from Arcade, you already have AI voiceover, MP4 export and step-by-step guides, so read the cards for the narrower things: whether a guide can be built from a video step at all, and whether the automatic edit publishes what it does rather than describing it. Then read the price lines for seats against credits, since Arcade charges per seat and meters AI separately.

Ours first — it's our site — then the rest, closest to Arcade first. Every other card quotes that company's own pricing or product page as of 15 August 2026, and links to the row-by-row comparison it was written from.

Questions

Leaving Arcade, answered plainly

Arcade already exports MP4 and writes AI voiceover. What is different?

Narrower things than it used to be, and worth stating precisely. Arcade does list step-by-step guides on Growth and above, but its own docs say they do not support video steps — so a guide built from the video is the gap, not a guide as such. MP4 and GIF export sits on the paid tier, and AI runs against a credit budget whose terms are changing. The remaining difference is the edit itself: the thresholds here are published numbers (1.8× zoom, dead time over 4s at 3×), not described features.

Arcade's free tier looks better than yours. Is it?

For demos, yes, and it is not close — unlimited AI demos with AI voiceovers on a free plan is a lot to give away, and their credit terms are being revised. Ours is not a free tier at all and we should not pretend otherwise: stepvideo has a 10-day free trial with 5 AI minutes, no card, watermarked, and the trial takes no card and nothing charges at the end of it — exports are watermarked and draft-quality until you pick a plan. One is a standing free plan, the other is a trial with an end date.

Do I lose the desktop app if I leave Arcade?

Partly. Arcade lists a desktop app alongside its Chrome extension on every tier. stepvideo can record a browser tab, a window or your whole screen, but the click-accurate editing — the zooms anchored to the control you pressed, and the step labels in the guide — comes from the extension on a browser tab. So the pixels are capturable either way, and the automatic edit is not. If you document native software, that is the row to decide on, and it decides against us.
