Before the table: when Trupeer is the right call

Trupeer is an AI demo video and documentation platform. There are jobs it does better than we do, and this is the list. If you recognise yourself on the right, we'd rather you went and used it than churned in month two.

Pick stepvideo when…

  • Minutes per pound. stepvideo's Creator plan is $29/mo for 25 rendered AI minutes; Trupeer's Pro plan lists 20 AI video minutes at $40/mo.
  • You want the automatic edit published as numbers rather than described as magic.
  • Recording length without going enterprise. stepvideo Studio records up to 15 minutes at $99/mo; Trupeer's 15-minute cap starts on Scale, above their Pro plan at $40, which caps at 12 against 12 on stepvideo Creator at $29.

The claims on our side are all specified. Read the edit rules

Pick Trupeer when…

  • You want AI avatars. Trupeer lists them at every tier including free; stepvideo doesn't have them.
  • You want a bigger free tier to evaluate on — Trupeer lists 10 AI video minutes free, stepvideo's free plan is 5.
  • You want a hosted knowledge base product as a first-class add-on.
  • You want custom voices and custom backgrounds, which Trupeer lists on Scale.

What you get

One take. Three things to hand over.

One pass produces the video, the written guide, and the share page.

The edited video

Zooms on your clicks, dead time compressed, mistakes cut, voiceover and word-by-word captions — 1080p.

Recording bar reading 'Recording screen 00:10' over a Google Slides deck, with the presenter's webcam in the corner of the slide

A written guide

The same steps, numbered, each with a screenshot from your recording. Print, paste, or publish.

A page of a generated guide: 'Step 01, Navigate to Mautomate', two numbered instructions and the step's screenshot, with a text formatting toolbar above it

A share page

Every render gets a page that plays the video — public, or unlisted for link-only access.

Share dialog with Public access switched on, 'Anyone with the link can view', a stepvideo share link and a Copy link button

Questions

stepvideo vs Trupeer, asked plainly

How do the AI minutes compare?

stepvideo Creator is $29/month for 25 rendered AI video minutes. Trupeer Pro lists 20 AI video minutes from $40/month. At the tier above, stepvideo Studio is $99/month for 100 minutes and Trupeer Scale lists 100 minutes from $199/month. Prices read off both pricing pages on 15 August 2026.

Do stepvideo's minutes count the raw recording or the finished video?

The recording, counted once when the video is generated and rounded up to a tenth of a minute. Exporting and regenerating that video cost nothing more.

Does stepvideo have AI avatars?

No. Trupeer does, across all plans. If a synthetic presenter is part of what you're buying, that's a straightforward reason to pick them.
