stepvideo vs Tango

stepvideo.ioTango

Tango captures a process as a written guide and can replay it as guidance inside the app itself. stepvideo takes the same recording and produces a cut, zoomed, narrated video — plus the written guide — for people who will watch rather than be walked through.

No credit card needed — 5 AI video minutes, free for 10 days.

Before the table: when Tango is the right call

Tango is a step-by-step guide and in-app guidance tool. There are jobs it does better than we do, and this is the list. If you recognise yourself on the right, we'd rather you went and used it than churned in month two.

Pick stepvideo when…

  • The walkthrough has to work outside your product — in an email, a help centre, a launch post — where in-app guidance can't reach.
  • You want narration and zooms, not screenshots with callouts.
  • You need the video and the doc as one job rather than two tools.

The claims on our side are all specified. Read the edit rules

Pick Tango when…

  • You want to guide users live inside your own app while they work. stepvideo doesn't do in-app guidance at all.
  • Written guides with automatic screenshots and redaction are the whole requirement.
  • You're documenting desktop software — Tango's paid plans include a desktop app.
  • Tango's Pro team seat is $15–20/month, below stepvideo's entry price for text-first work.

What you get

One take. Three things to hand over.

One pass produces the video, the written guide, and the share page.

The edited video

Zooms on your clicks, dead time compressed, mistakes cut, voiceover and word-by-word captions — 1080p.

Recording bar reading 'Recording screen 00:10' over a Google Slides deck, with the presenter's webcam in the corner of the slide

A written guide

The same steps, numbered, each with a screenshot from your recording. Print, paste, or publish.

A page of a generated guide: 'Step 01, Navigate to Mautomate', two numbered instructions and the step's screenshot, with a text formatting toolbar above it

A share page

Every render gets a page that plays the video — public, or unlisted for link-only access.

Share dialog with Public access switched on, 'Anyone with the link can view', a stepvideo share link and a Copy link button

Questions

stepvideo vs Tango, asked plainly

Does Tango produce video?

Tango's pricing page doesn't list MP4 video export, AI voiceover or automatic zoom, as of 15 August 2026. Its output is the written guide and in-app guidance. Those rows are marked "not listed" rather than "no".

Can stepvideo guide users inside my app like Tango does?

No. stepvideo makes a video and a guide you send people; it doesn't overlay steps on your live product. If in-app guidance is the requirement, Tango is the right category and we aren't in it.
