stepvideo vs Arcade

stepvideo.ioArcade

Arcade has moved toward us. Its homepage now headlines AI-generated product videos rather than click-through demos alone, and it records with a Chrome extension or a desktop app, writes AI voiceovers at every tier, and exports MP4 on paid tiers. What still separates them is where the editing decisions come from: Arcade gives you the controls, and stepvideo makes the first pass from your clicks and hands you the result to correct.

No credit card needed — 5 AI video minutes, free for 10 days.

Before the table: when Arcade is the right call

Arcade is a demo tool now leading with AI-generated product videos. There are jobs it does better than we do, and this is the list. If you recognise yourself on the right, we'd rather you went and used it than churned in month two.

Pick stepvideo when…

  • The written guide comes from the video itself. Arcade lists step-by-step guides on Growth and up, but its own docs say they do not support video steps, read on 2 October 2026.
  • The automatic edit is the point — zooms anchored to the control you clicked and dead time compressed by published thresholds you can read before you record.
  • You want MP4 export without a paid tier gating it, and without a credit budget on the plan.
  • You want to publish in another language from a recording in your own.

The claims on our side are all specified. Read the edit rules

Pick Arcade when…

  • You want the demo to be interactive — branching, CTAs and forms inside it — which is their product and not ours.
  • Their free tier is generous for a pilot: unlimited AI demos, AI voiceovers, AI text-to-video, 1 published demo and 1 published video, 200 AI credits a month.
  • You record software outside the browser: they list a desktop app as well as a Chrome extension, on every tier.
  • Seat pricing fits you better than per-minute: Growth is $50 per seat a month, or $42.50 per seat billed yearly, up to 10 seats, read on 2 October 2026.
  • You want custom landing pages, brand kits and a custom domain around the demo.

What you get

One take. Three things to hand over.

One pass produces the video, the written guide, and the share page.

The edited video

Zooms on your clicks, dead time compressed, mistakes cut, voiceover and word-by-word captions — 1080p.

Recording bar reading 'Recording screen 00:10' over a Google Slides deck, with the presenter's webcam in the corner of the slide

A written guide

The same steps, numbered, each with a screenshot from your recording. Print, paste, or publish.

A page of a generated guide: 'Step 01, Navigate to Mautomate', two numbered instructions and the step's screenshot, with a text formatting toolbar above it

A share page

Every render gets a page that plays the video — public, or unlisted for link-only access.

Share dialog with Public access switched on, 'Anyone with the link can view', a stepvideo share link and a Copy link button

Questions

stepvideo vs Arcade, asked plainly

Arcade exports MP4 and writes AI voiceover. What is actually different?

Two things. Their MP4 and GIF export is listed on the paid Growth tier and runs against a monthly AI credit budget; and their pricing page doesn't list a written step-by-step guide, which is half of what a stepvideo recording produces. The automatic edit is the other difference — the zoom and dead-time thresholds are published numbers here (1.8× zoom, 4s of dead time at 3×), and their page describes features rather than rules.

Is Arcade's free tier better than yours?

For demos, yes — unlimited AI demos with voiceovers is a lot to give away. For video, they list 1 published video and a 200-credit monthly budget; stepvideo has a 10-day free trial with 5 AI minutes, no card, watermarked, and the trial takes no card and nothing charges at the end of it — exports are watermarked and draft-quality until you pick a plan. Both are real free tiers, and they are free tiers of different products.

Could a team use both?

Yes, and it is a common split: interactive demos on the website for prospects, narrated videos with written guides in the help centre for customers. Nothing about either stops the other working.
