Storylane alternatives for how-to videos

Storylane builds interactive product demos for sales teams: a clickable replica of your product, personalised per account, wired into the CRM with lead capture behind it. People look for a Storylane alternative when what they actually need is to teach a procedure rather than sell a product — and when the price of a sales-tooling plan has to be justified by a content team's budget.

Prefer the row-by-row version? stepvideo vs Storylane.

Before the list

First: should you actually leave Storylane?

Storylane is an interactive product demo platform for sales teams. There are jobs it does better than anything below, and if you recognise yourself on the left, the cheapest alternative is the one you already have.

Stay with Storylane if…

  • You are doing top-of-funnel sales demos, where letting a prospect drive the product converts better than a video of it.
  • You need the demo personalised per account — they list personalisation tokens, account reveal, and HubSpot, Salesforce and Zapier integrations by tier.
  • You want lead capture and custom lead forms attached to the demo itself.
  • You want AI video avatars with the demo; their plans list 20, 125 and 250 avatar minutes by tier.
  • Their free tier fits your pilot: 1 seat, 1 published demo, unlimited views, AI voiceovers included.

Look for an alternative if…

  • The viewer's next action is to do the thing themselves in the real product — watching a narrated walkthrough teaches a procedure faster than clicking a replica of it.
  • You need an MP4 and a written guide for a help centre, an onboarding email or a knowledge base.
  • One or two people make the content everyone else watches, and per-seat demo pricing doesn't fit that shape.
  • Your budget is a product-team budget, not a sales-tooling budget: their Growth tier lists $625 a month, $500 billed yearly.

8 Storylane alternatives for how-to videos

Coming from Storylane, don't compare features first — compare what the viewer receives. Storylane's deliverable is a demo they drive; most cards below hand over a video they watch, and the two belong to different moments in the funnel. Then read the price line against Storylane's per-seat numbers, because most tools here price the workspace or the rendered minute rather than the seat.

Ours first — it's our site — then the rest, closest to Storylane first. Every other card quotes that company's own pricing or product page as of 15 August 2026, and links to the row-by-row comparison it was written from.

Questions

Leaving Storylane, answered plainly

I make interactive demos in Storylane. Should I switch at all?

Probably not for the demos. If the viewer's next action is to buy, a replica they drive themselves is what Storylane is for and a video won't beat it. Add — or switch to — a tool like stepvideo when the viewer's next action is to do the thing themselves in software they already have: onboarding, support and training, where a narrated walkthrough with zooms on each control teaches faster than clicking a copy.

Do I lose the CRM integrations and lead capture?

Yes, completely, and there is no equivalent here. Storylane's pricing page lists lead capture, custom lead forms, account reveal and HubSpot, Salesforce and Zapier integrations by tier; stepvideo has none of that. It produces a video, a written guide and a share page. If the demo's job is to generate and route pipeline, that is a reason to stay.

How does the price compare?

Storylane's pricing page listed Starter at $50 a month for one seat and Growth at $625 a month for five, $40 and $500 billed yearly, on 11 September 2026. stepvideo Creator is $29 a month for 25 rendered AI video minutes and Studio is $99 for 100, priced per workspace rather than per seat. They are priced as sales tooling and we are priced as a content tool; neither number is wrong for what it buys.
